Our research focus

The LIMCR (Laboratory for Immunological and Molecular Cancer Research) was founded in 2005 by Prof. Richard Greil. A particular focus of the LIMCR is leukemia research in the field of chronic lymphocytic leukemia, myelodysplastic syndrome and acute myeloid leukemia.

The special feature of the LIMCR research concept is the direct embedding of the research laboratory in clinical practice. The main objectives are, on the one hand, to link research on tumor material from cancer patients as closely as possible with clinical observations and, on the other hand, to transfer clinical experience to the laboratory and subsequently use the research results to establish new treatment methods. The knowledge gained from experimental research is to be systematically and rapidly implemented in medical practice in order to be able to offer cancer patients an innovative and individually tailored therapy.

LIMCR

The team of young medical and biological scientists at the Laboratory for Immunological and Molecular Cancer Research (LIMCR) is constantly striving to improve existing cancer therapies and contribute to the development of new treatment strategies by means of translational and internationally competitive research.

In line with the motto “Together we are stronger”, we strengthened our collaboration with the Paris Lodron University of Salzburg (PLUS) in 2014 and founded the “Cancer Cluster Salzburg” (CCS) together.

We organize an annual International CLL Workshop at which the latest developments in research and clinical practice are presented. Further information can be found on the CCS homepage.
